One of the commonest infections seen in urbanized and civilized populations. This disorder is seen on various parts of the body depending on the nature of work, habitat, clothing patterns, dietary habits. Red to reddish black patches are seen in the body folds, accompanied with various degree of itching. Loose clothing, sprinkling dusting (antifungal) powders, loose and relatively open foot wears are some of the mandatory life styles in an individual.

Repeated fungal infections should arouse suspicions of anemia, diabetes mellitus and thyroid disorder. A fungal infection of hairs and nails is a known entity too.
